The Walton Swifts Walking Football Club was created back in 2014 by two men from Walton on the Naze, John Kilby and Chris Knighton.
Their aim was to provide local people over the age of 50 with a means of getting regular, fun, healthy exercise along with the opportunity to socialise as a group.
From small beginnings the club has flourished and has a current active membership of over 50 players between the ages of 50 and 87. We are delighted that we have women members with us too playing alongside the men. The success has been dramatic and the enjoyment that the members get from playing the football they still love followed by a few beers has to be experienced to fully understand just how good it all is.
The success of the club meant moving from Walton on the Naze to better facilities at Frinton on Sea Lawn Tennis Club with football members from Walton, Frinton and more widely in Tendring. In 2024 we also introduced walking football on grass pitches at the Frinton Cricket Club and in 2026 football on a new 3g astro type pitch at Tendring Technical college's Frinton Campus.
The Swifts also regularly visit other Walking Football clubs for friendly or tournament play for the occasional something that bit more competitive.

We are based at Frinton on Sea Lawn Tennis club (FOSLTC) and from 19th January we also play on a 3g astro type pitch at Tendring Technical College's Frinton Campus. In Spring, Summer and Autumn we additionally play on grass at Frinton on Sea Cricket Club.
As at January 2026 we play on Monday evenings from 6.45pm to 8pm at Tendring Tec

In Spring 2026 we will resume weekday afternoon football at Frinton on Sea Cricket Club Ashlyns Rd CO13 9EU when the pitch condition permits.
Come along and see if we suit you.
If you do decide to join us we would explain the membership options and very reasonable costs.

Here at the Swifts it’s not just about playing walking football. Members can enjoy as much, or as little, of the social side of our club as is right for them.
You can always be sure that a good number of us will stay behind in the bar at our venues after each football session for a drink, have a laugh and to put the world right.
Each year

Each year brings at least one Charity night when we play dressed to a theme and by doing this we have so far supported Prostate Cancer UK, East Anglian Children's Hospices and in 2025 the local project "Lads Need Dads" .
The annual party and awards night is always a great fun event too.
There is a flourishing group of players wives and partners (The Walking WAGS) who meet regularly together for lunch or to have drinks with the players after football sessions.
